Japan stocks rise on US earnings

Japanese stocks rose for a third straight session Thursday, buoyed by banks and electronics issues following stronger-than-expected U.S. corporate earnings reports.

The Nikkei 225 index gained 252.17 points, or 1.92 percent, to 13,398.30 on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The index rose 1.2 percent Wednesday.

'The market seems to have started rebounding,' said Hajime Kitano, chief Japanese equity strategist at JP Morgan.

Kitano said that on top of corporate earnings, investors were watching whether U.S. economic data show any signs of improvement. Read more
